Another One Bites The Dust

I am so grateful to be on this side of today, because, let me tell you, it’s been a long time coming.

I did sleep in this morning, which was a gift of true love from my husband. After spending the previous 48 hours in one elegant hospital establishment after another my emotional and physical state was wearing thin.

So, I recuperated. It was lovely.

Moments after my husband headed off to work I walked into the kitchen to see Tres sitting on the floor with an apple pie in between her legs, face buried in the pie pan.

It was put on the counter to cool and the little rodent carrying my genetic code crawled up, got a good grasp on it, and pulled it to the floor to devour as much as possible before discovery.

She was very proud of herself!

After getting that mess cleaned up and getting the first loads of laundry and dishes done for the day I put her to naps and started on schoolwork with Uno and Dos.

A few minutes in I had to answer the phone. The conversation was cut short not only because the man on the other end spoke only Spanish and I’m severely limited in my bilingual abilities outside of saying a 5×10 unit is cinco y diez y cinco, cinco dinero per lunes but also because of the blood-curdling wailing coming from the table.

(I’m still not sure if I told him our prices and availability or asked him to take a walk with me on the 5th underneath the pale moonlight while wearing a sombrero.)

“What is going on?” I demanded as soon as I said adios, amigo. “Why on Earth would you EVER scream like that unless there’s an amputation taking place?!”

“Dos punched me in the face!” Uno howled, hand to her cheek and full of persevering innocence.

“I did do it, right in the face!” Dos yelled (at least the little cuss is honest). “But that’s because she was spitting on me and I wanted her to stop so I hitted her in her mouth!”

That’s just the way today went. All. Day. Long.

It could have been worse only if all three girls were assaulted with intestinal difficulties and lining up to use our single toilet all day while also puking at irregular intervals and lighting their hair on fire.

Good times, good times.

In other news it’s supposed to snow a foot tomorrow and keep snowing for a week. I’m not sure if I should call it the snowpacalypse yet but I can tell you our moving project that will widen our 800 square foot apartment into a 1200 square foot home is not complete and I’m terribly scared of what will happen if all three girls, three dogs and I are locked inside for too many days in a row.

Forget about Calgon taking me away, I’m praying it’s not the people carrying firearms and driving those cars with the pretty blue and red lights flashing on the top that will take me away.

Those lights really are hypnotizing.

At this point it’s obvious to me I’ve rambled long enough. Thanks for sticking around and let me know if you have a request for our next Swing Vote location… that’s coming up soon!

Snowpocalypse! I love it! But(ahem)…this is nothing compared to what we usually get in the throes of winter (sorry!). When your minihouse gets to be too crowded, pack up and come over here! Ours isn’t much bigger, but at least we can hang out. 🙂
