Shadows Gray, A Book Giveaway!

Coolest new book you need to read!

Have you ever picked up a book too late in the evening, expecting to read a few pages and then set it down? Suddenly it’s 1:30 a.m. and you’re several chapters into the story and totally engaged?

Yep, that’s what happened to me.

Several months ago I went on a search for new blogs to read and enjoy. I followed comment links, did Google searches, asked for recommendations via Facebook… it was a full-on search! I found several blogs I like and one I heart with my whole heart whose author has become my cyber-friend.

Melyssa writes at The Daze of Us. Her sense of humor is amazing; she describes herself as too liberal for her conservative friends and too conservative for her liberal friends… and I love her (but not in a creepy, stalker way. Promise.).

At the time we had our virtual meeting she was in the midst of writing her book, Shadows Gray. I offered to proof read it for her (I’m a better editor for other people’s stuff than my own. Typos are my nemesis in my writing.)

I got the email with her book attachment in the evening and I opened it while I was in bed, hoping to doze off into blissful sweetness soon…

… And three hours later finally put it down because my eyes were doing the crazy dance and I was seeing gila monsters wearing blue and fuchsia house coats on the edge of my blurry vision.

Shadows Gray is that good. The writing is quickly paced and intriguing. The characters are relatable, the story line itself is quirky, approachable and surprising.

I’ve been watching Melyssa go through the self-publishing adventure and I’m so proud of her! Plus, she’s produced a quality publication I think anyone would enjoy reading!

Just today she posted the book for sale on Amazon and Barnes and Noble! So, so, so, so exciting! Now it’s our job to help it become a success!

Please head on over and get Shadow’s Gray for your Kindle or Nook. (I’m trying to talk her into getting it set up for iBook. I think she’ll cave soon. Ha!) It’s only $2.99 and, seriously, that’s the price of a minuscule meal at Taco Bell but I guarantee you’ll enjoy this more, burp less, and have better memories in the end!

As a special bonus because, well, she’s awesome, I’ll be able to do a giveaway of the book. And while she can’t autograph your copy because it’s an ebook, she’ll send you a personal note filled with advice that may or may not relate to your life but will likely make you laugh!

I’ll choose a winner from the comments on Sunday. I will use a completely unscientific process that will involve my not-quite-two-year-old  who spent the day coated with syrup.

To enter the giveaway, comment on this post with an answer to the following question: If you could be a time traveler, what era would you like to experience firsthand?

I’m a blog “stalker” but I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now. Your question made me laugh so I finally decided to break down and actually comment.

I want to go back to regency england because it’s my guilty reading pleasure to sneak a couple of crappy regency romance novels into my yearly list of books to read on my kindle. And it’s easier on a kindle because it is more stealthy and fewer people can judge me for the title of my book.

“Fewer people can judge me for the title of my book.” That makes me laugh! I LOVE regency England novels and cut my teeth on authors like Jude Devereaux and Johanna Lindsay… upgraded to Charlotte Bingham when I travelled abroad (she isn’t seen much on US bookshelves.) I don’t think I’d enjoy the corsets.

Thanks for stalking.. and coming out of the woodwork to comment! 🙂

I love Jude Devereaux’s The Princess. Or maybe I just like the last name Devereaux – it just seems so posh!
I also recommend Katie MacAlister’s The Trouble with Harry and Barbara Metzger’s An Early Engagement. Both hilarious.

The time before Noah’s Flood . . . I want to know what a Nephilim really is. 🙂 But, I already bought the book and I’m about 23% through . . . not having page numbers is so weird, but I’m getting used to my Kindle. Wish I could sneak off and read some more right now, but my dear hubby isn’t a fan of watching me read on date night. 🙂

So, I’m just curious, Juggler. Are you going to choose the winner via Random Number Generator? That’s the only fair way, really. 😉

If I had to choose when to return to…that’s tough. I don’t think I could choose just one. My top three would be (in no particular order):
    1. Early American colonies.
    2. 1940s.
    3. 1800s Europe.

While I would love to peer into history before those times, I think I wouldn’t want to live before those times…before hygiene was a priority. 🙂

P.S. I don’t have a Kindle or Nook, so you don’t have to include me in the contest. I just thought that your question was worth responding to! 🙂
