I’ll Be Your Cautionary Tale
My kitchen counter is clean.
This is worth mentioning because glimpsing my kitchen counter is akin to the Aurora Borealis, sighted enough to move past the state of legend but still far from an everyday observation.
Housekeeping has not ever been my forte but since our move two years ago I am more likely to throw my hands up in exasperation when faced with the leftovers of our life in a small house than roll up my sleeves and get to work.
And then our vacuum cleaner broke. {sigh}
It’s in times of duress I turn to reality television and the internet to feel like maybe, just maybe I’m NOT wearing a sign around my neck stating, “I’ll be your cautionary tale.”
(True story, today was an exasperating day of parenting so I watched an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras to remind myself I’ve got great kids… even when they’re obnoxious.)
I recently discovered the Messy House Edition. It made me very, very happy because I can see that I’m not the only one who has difficulty balancing family, job, housekeeping, homeschooling, breathing, eating, and drinking! Isn’t that lovely?!
If you’d like a chance to feel better about your own skill set, check out My Life and Kids. (This blog also sponsors Finding the Funny, which I’ve participated in several times – good stuff!)
And if you’re feeling generous, comment with your most egregious housekeeping infraction… it’ll be a support group for all of us!
