Family Movie Nights

It’s Saturday night. I’m watching the Avengers.

We usually spend every Friday night watching a show and eating pizza. We missed it last night for several reasons, so we took a raincheck for this evening.

I know that there are a ton of people who hold a strong barrier against media, and I get it! We are a technology-friendly home, though, so I am not opposed to media, I just want to be intentional about what we’re watching.

To be honest, the Avengers/Marvel series has tested our boundaries.

I’m a Common Sense Media searcher – every app, movie, book, show, or video game starts with me checking their reviews.

That being said, I’ve discovered that our 6-year-old boy has about the same threshold of ability to manage intense scenes as our 13-year-old daughter! So when our son started asking about the Marvel series we decided to start watching them as a family.

Here’s the win of that – we’re right there saying, “That’s a bad word, don’t say that to other people!” and talking about the issues that shock them.

The bad… well, our kids have been exposed.

That being said, we raise our own meat for consumption from birth to plate so I wonder how much sheltering they really need?

Because it’s where we are right now, I thought I’d ask all of you – what movies or shows have you found to be fun Family Movie Nights?

Here’s our list:
